it’s always an honour and fascinating opportunity to get to know how people on other part of the world lives!

Text 7 Apr 5 notes Ikealand: a suburb put together with an allen wrench

adverve:

Ikea wants to take their concept of furniture for the people to the next step - and build an entire affordable suburb. It’s in the works, and it’s going to become reality.

And they swear they won’t be selling Swedish meatballs on every corner, or surrounding residents with Billy bookcases. Just well-designed homes for people who deserve them. Let’s hope they’re not using a lot of particle board.

what an affordable idea!

Text 13 Feb Rest In Peace

I guess, Rest In Peace a.k.a RIP is the actual trending topic these days. and I really can’t help but ponder about it.

Not only related to the loss of the talented-with-super-gift-of-awemazing-voice Whitney Houston yesterday, but also with other news that I heard around in the last 3 days. The extreme cold in Europe that claims 500 lives, unexpected-and-crazily-tragic bus accident in Puncak (local weekend get-away for Jakartans) yesterday and took the lives of local people who were eating, for goodness sake they were eating!, bakso or meatball and other bad news which causes death tolls all over the world.

Hearing all those news, i guess it would not be too harsh to put the tittle Rest In Peace as the main theme of early 2012.

What gets me thinking is not about the fear of death or so, but it’s about the timing that nobody knows. Nobody as in nobody! Not even the famous peramal nor pyschic nor shaman nor fortune-teller can tell their expiry date on earth!

So, facing this fact, I have so many questions in my mind. are you ready to face it anytime?  I mean, have you really live your life to the fullest? have you done what must be done? have you made your life matter?

Looking at other examples, I see that some people are working on those questions when they still have the chance or when they have breath in them, some are really working hard on it and some are just go with the flow or go crazy and have fun because life is short!

and yes, life short indeed. So, am i preparing my self to be able to Rest In Peace?

but, again, I was thinking that when referring to rest, it doesnt always mean the next life rite? If possibble, I do wanna have a life that have a restfull mind and heart :) and so far, I know that it is possible.

Text 1 Sep Woman

Thanks to the yearly moslem Ied celebration, i was granted all the time i need to think and ponder during the full week holiday :)

So, was doing domestic chorus today since the maid took their leave to celebrate Ied-day (the biggest moslem celebration where most Indonesian go back to their home town and leave Jakarta empty to take a breath :p)
While doing that, was thinking that as part of the normal indonesia family, this time of year is one of the toughest time for woman (especially married ones), cause:
1. the maids are gone, leave all house work to be done
2. schools are off means the kids stays home all day and need to be taken care of
3. offices are off means the husband stays home too
4. celebration needs food and preparation means more work

voilaaa…
basically, i dont think woman (especially married one) are having holiday :p
and for that i salute them, for willing and capable of doing all those things!

i know that God created woman for ‘perfecting’ human life, but i never realized the extent of the ‘perfecting’ role.
come to think of it, it’s like we woman are bound to have 24 hours job once we got married: 1. domestic goddess , 2. additional income (optional) and each job requires equall focus.
But, the thing is, job no.1 does not, normally, gives tangible rewards, like job no.2.
when doing job no.1, you rarely get appraisal, compliments when you’re perform excellence or a pat in the shoulder when you’re tired. in fact some people (as in the spouses) think job no.1 is more of like women’s obligation ^^

again, when i think of all that, i sincerely humbled with the natural-born skills of women….

now, am not trying to put man in negative perspective. am just analyzing what i see during the holiday seasons when women rock!

yes, women rock!!
